FAQ
What types of specialist fencing does Timberstore stock?
The range covers six distinct systems. Chain-link fencing suits perimeter security for residential and commercial sites. Stock, wire and weldmesh is designed for agricultural and rural use - livestock containment, deer exclusion, and field boundaries. Chestnut fencing is a traditional cleft timber option often used for rural and estate boundaries. Post and rail provides an open boundary structure for paddocks and gardens. Palisade gives a defined boundary with a traditional open-board appearance. Temporary fencing covers short-term site and event applications.
What is the difference between stock fencing, wire netting, and weldmesh?
All three are wire-based but suit different applications. Stock fencing uses a series of horizontal and vertical wires in graduated spacings - closer at the bottom to contain smaller animals, wider at the top - and is the standard agricultural boundary fence for sheep, cattle, and horses. Wire netting has a hexagonal mesh pattern and is used primarily for poultry, rabbits, and small animal containment where a finer aperture is needed. Weldmesh has a rigid welded square grid, giving a more formal appearance and greater rigidity - used for security enclosures, dog runs, and situations where the mesh needs to hold its shape without tensioning.
Can Timberstore cut timber to non-standard sizes for specialist fencing projects?
Yes - Timberstore has its own milling facility at Beaconsfield and offers a bespoke milling and cutting service for non-standard dimensions. This covers re-sawing, morticing, and other processing that standard stock lengths do not accommodate. If your project requires posts, rails, or boards outside the standard range, contact the team to discuss requirements and lead times before ordering.
